Hello everyone. I'm brand new to smoking and hoping to get my first smoker this weekend. I have always wanted to learn, but felt intimidated by it. I am still deciding on what smoker to get and since I'm a beginner I was thinking about going with an electric Masterbuilt. I have alot to learn and I'm looking forward to it.

Welcome!! No need to be intimidated at all. Of course you will make some mistakes along the way, but the great thing is you get to eat the evidence!

An electric Masterbuilt (MES) is a great place to start. Easy to use but can produce some awesome Que. Let us know how we can help.

Welcome gla to have you on board lot of great guys and gals on here with tons of info. Just ask the questions and somebody will have the answer. Yup MES is a great place to start although I would get the 40" if possible not all meats fit in the 30" without having to cut it.

Yes the MES is a good place to start however I would get the 40" if at all possible not all cuts of meat will fit in the 30" without having to be cut in smaller pieces.

Welcome! Great choice. And you came to the right place to get started on your new adventure.

Welcome to SMF! Originally from Oklahoma myself.
Smoking meat gets to be addictive like mentioned above. Practice doesn't necessarily make perfect, but it sure is fun. I'm quite familiar with the Masterbuilt stuff. You'll turn up doing a few mods before it is over, but the results are worth it. I would do the e course like Al suggested and then do some small cuts at first to figure out the quirks of your particular smoker.
Best of luck!
