Good morning, Chad and welcome from North Carolina.

That's some nice work you've done there. Is that a Millermatic 255 in the background? And is that what you welded this with?

Ahh. I have the Multimatic 255 and really like it but still want to be better at outside corners in 1/4" plate before I'm comfortable tackling long joints as visible as the firebox and cook chamber end plates. When you have a few minutes I'd be grateful for some insight into your parameters and what wire your using (I'm guessing ER70S-6 from the silica islands?)

I own my gas cylinders and had to wait to empty one of my 300 CF 75/25 cylinders to get it refilled with 90/10 Argon/CO2 so I can give pulsed axial spray with .045" ER70S-6 a try. I haven't been as diligent as I should be and seeing your smoker is giving me some motivation to get to work on one. I have five propane tanks sitting in the edge of our woods for smokers and one is currently filled with Dawn dish detergent and water soaking so can snip the end off it anytime.

Best regards,

I finished the new door Christmas Eve & ran it yesterday smokin 6 racks. Pretty noticeable improvement! Shout out to Daveomak for the air inlet suggestion that I followed exactly. It maintains 225 with the bottom inlet about 1/4 open & can crank it up nice & easy going further. Still playing with the upper inlets, but it’s working very good 👍.

I’m beyond impressed. I’m not an expert but I had twin uncles that were master welders. What I see is crazy impressive. Wow. Just wow. Everything about this is incredible. Your great-grandkid’s grand kids are going to be fighting over that heirloom.

Man thanks for the good words brutha! I love fabricating…was always fascinated as a young kid & got on it at a young age 👍. I’m going to make another one this year, I don’t think I’ll change much, it works so good…maybe just a bit longer for the barrel but that’s it 😁

You might find yourself with another career if you keep making these. Seriously, it looks like a ton of fun and it all looks so well thought out. I can tell you take pride in your work and you don’t settle. Again, my compliments.
