Ive recently found a 250 gallon tank that is one half of a 500 gallon butane tank. I am wanting to try my hand at turning it into a reverse flow smoker but I wanna put a slight twist on it n include a small charcoal pit for grilling burgers. But my first concern is how to start and how big my firebox needs to be and my smoke stack. And how big of a trailer should I try to find. All the help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use this http://www.feldoncentral.com/bbqcalculator.html  to get your sizes figured out. It helps a lot. I would measure the piece you have and enter those numbers instead of just assuming it is actually 250 gal though.

Trailer size is up to you. It depends on what else you want on there. I am building on a 6'x12' frame, but I am adding a lot more stuff once the smoker is complete. If all you want is the smoker you don't need one nearly that big.

Spend a few hours surfing, looking at pix, and reading through build posts like those here and you'll glean enough information to make the calculator make more sense...likely come away with quite a few good ideas, too. Good luck!

"a few hours" DoodleQ?! That may be how it starts... and then it turns into hours and days... It feels odd if I'm not checking the RF forums at least once a day!

Ya that's how I am im looking at forums every day. N I just cant decide how big to make my firebox. N I have some ideas on making my firebox were I can also cook burgers n steaks on without using the main chamber. Any ideas
