My wife kind of has some regrets about not getting there sooner to be with her mom as she passed. In a way, I consider that a blessing. I held my mom's hand as she passed. Glad I was there, but don't wish the experience on anyone.
Easier said than done, but don't let her beat herself up, Doug. My mother passed in a nursing home and at the end, she didn't know anyone. We were all there that day, but after several hours, we went home. Wasn't home an hour when they called. That's my regret still to this day 12 years later yesterday...
She passed peacefully in the night. That evening this was on my shop wall, I think her way of saying things are OK. . .
My parents lived on Lake Murray and my mother would feed the ducks and geese off their boat ramp. They had never ever seen any swans there. After she passed, we all went to be with my dad and this is what we saw swimming around their place...

My mother was there letting us know she was alright. After her funeral a week or so later, they were gone and my dad never saw them again before he passed 4 years later...

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Though my wife could not make it there in time, her little brother and his wife were with her mom and did some facetime stuff with the wife so she was kind of there near the end.

I don't think she is beating herself up for not getting there sooner, but we all have some regrets when we are not there by a loved one's side when the end comes.

Prayers, thoughts, and angels sent to you, your wife, and the family, Doug. The spirit of those that pass often have surprising ways of letting us know they are at peace.

My condolences for the loss. Celebrate her life and the treasured memories she left with each of you.

Ray

Prayers and peace to you, your wife and all the family.
I regret not going to see my brother before he passed. At least we talked a few days prior.

I was there when my father passed. Had the task of getting my mother and driving her to the care center. Yeah, not an experience that is ... comforting.
I visited my mother hours before she passed. My sister was there when she passed and did not call me until after. I'm still pissed about that whole ordeal.
