About 10 miles from the blue turf!
I got to go to Franklin BBQ. Went for my b-day on 5/22. Yeah I know pretty sad that I waited this long to post about it but was on vacation and was doing other things. Had a fun trip though!

Got there almost right at 8 a.m. and this was the line in front of us already.

Shortly after we got there employees were sent down the line to check on people and give an estimated time of eating. We were told from where we were at it would be about 1:30. The line continued to grow for a bit after we got there.

The employees started taking orders about 9:00 or so and by the time they got to us at about 9:45 we were told there were probably not be any ribs left!

After they opened at 11:00 though the line went reasonably quick considering all the people. Quite a bit closer about noon.

About 12:30 got a free sample of chopped brisket sandwich.

Finally got to sit down and eat right about 1:30 so they were right on with the time. Brisket sandwiches, sausage and pulled pork + a couple of sides. Food was excellent! Best brisket I have had so far.

It was a good time despite the wait. Met some fun people in line and had some cold drinks so the time went by pretty easy.

I'm not sure I could wait that long either.

I guess your task now is to make a brisket as good or better than his!

Happy Birthday and glad you had a great time. The guy knows what he is doing, no doubt...But seriously, Meat, Salt, Pepper and Smoke? There is NO WAY that meat could be that freaking awesome that you could get me to stand 5 1/2 hours in line! The hype and anticipation is all the FUN and goes a long way toward how good the food tastes....JJ

My knee-jerk reaction is to say "I wouldn't wait that long", if I was on vacation with the right attitude it would probably be a fun experience. Kind of a block party waiting for lunch. Heck bring a cooler with some beer, a deck of cards, a folding table with some chairs.

Franklin is brisket savant and highly revered by everyone. Seems like a great guy too.

Glad you had a good time. Hope you enjoyed your vacation.

Smokin Monkey, I was not sure I was going to be able to wait that long either but I MADE IT THROUGH!

Smokin Al, as above but I would have to get a lot of practice. Only done brisket a couple of times before and not full packers.

Lemans, guess that would depend on the person. So far they had the best brisket I have had. The rest was good but I was lucky enough in the past to have pulled pork that was better.

Chef Jimmy, thanks for the b-day wishes. I am sure you are right about the wait and anticipation. That has to add something but when I compared the brisket to others I have had it was hands down the best I have tried, including some prize winning comp brisket. First thing I did when I got my food was pulled a piece off the sandwich to try. Got a piece with some nice bark and was still nice and juicy. Tried another that pulled apart nice and easy.

Tbrtt, yeah, had some cold beer while in line. Also was a place right next to it for people to get coffee and a couple of other places in walking distance to get some things as well. Chatting with the other people in line seemed to make the time pass by fairly easy. I will say though I am glad I went in may as opposed to late summer etc. Not sure I could do that when it gets really hot. And yes I enjoyed my vacation!
