I have seasoned wocks and irin fry pans
In reading many posts on TSMF i recall spray with pam and set the temp to about 300 degrees for 3 hours or so.
I did 325 degrees for a bit over 4 hours in my oven.

I have the rival KC electric toy smoker.

The results Sticky finish and not the glaze finish i am used to seeing.
Any tips??????

Maybe because this unit has a sort of glazed finish on it already?????0

i just read the book again and it doesn't say anything about seasoning the parts.

i have the inner liner in the oven at 400 degrees for two additional hours. ill soon find out what the story is i hope

I don't think a toy smoker require's seasoning

Ok, Scotty,

Here is what I do when "seasoning" anything. Yes, when you get stuff first off it does have a "glaze" on it, usually it's food grade wax. What you want to do is this. First, wash the parts, then stick them in the oven to burn it off, cool, wash again. Then set the oven at 300* , I prefer lard, but you can use the oil of your choice, cover the parts with the subject oil, adn bake for three hours. Then, re-coat, lower the temp to 215*-225, and bake for 2 hours. This will give the parts a coating that is non-stick. Now every time you use it, coat with spray oil ( I like canola) and done.

ok Jim.
Aparently the first round wasnt enough. I imagine my first baking took care of the wax. The glaze is hard now but since this is just my toy learner, I will ask again before seasoning my next unit.
I like your oven 2X method.
I figured that i knew how to do this but i definitely will ask first next time.

Scotty, when you get the next unit, call or contact me. I'll be happy to come up and help. Please keep ind mind, it"s always a learning process
so keep moving forward. This is my last post, you have my contact information, fee; free for you and Rocky to use it.

I would be happy to have you and a few of the bunch over. Maybe ill make a pastrami for us to test while we are seasoning the unit.
Im still very confused since i saw yours and fatbacks units.
I was set on electricity but i see that the gas and charcoal are also economical.

i like the temp controll without too much attention though. this is why that upright gas unit that you have is very apealing to me.
do you keep it tied down??????
