Hello, new forum member here.

Yesterday when I powered on my IPT pellet smoker and turned it on it died after a couple of seconds. I figure there's a problem with the auger.

But since IPT is out of business I'm SOL. I really like the unit, though. It's big and solid and has a good sized grate area.

I've learned I can retrofit an existing grill with a pellet conversion kit. Does anyone have any advice regarding these? Are they worth it? I think this might be the best option for me, as it preserves the structure of the smoker.

I would ck and make sure it wasn't jammed first, I would bet the motor is available still

I agree with Mike. They didnt make thier own motor. Some big company did. If the motor is bad get numbers off of it and google. That what I do for coal stove motors.

Good advice. I will check on the motor and auger, but also the digital display is showing gibberish instead of numbers.

disconnect stuff pulling power and see if gibberish clears up, when too much power is pulled on boards they will flake out some times, when the load is reduced they go back to being readable. good luck you may need a new controller instead of a motor, still cheaper than a new unit.
