Well I just got back from my walleye fishing tournament and had a great time. Picked up lots of fish but couldn't find the big ones so we didn't end up placing very high this year. oh well. Great fishing, great friends and lots of fun! I brought along my UDS and was going to make some fatty's for the boys but got too lazy and busy and ended up not making them. I also threw on four racks of ribs and smoked them for 5 hours while I was out on the lake fishing. Headed in a little before noon and fired up the smoker and threw the ribs on and just let her smoke. We did come back once quickly just to check on the UDS temps since this was my first time leaving it so unattended. It held its own and stayed right around 235-260 the whole time. At least I know from exerience now that I can leave the drum going for a while and not have to worry about. Sorry no Qview so it never really happened

Just got so busy packing and running my butt off that I forgot to pack the camera.
One my quick funny thing the next night after our ribs we had our rules meeting and they served us ribs and they were horrible. Baked or boiled with BBQ sauce and liquid smoke. Gross!! I actually heard a few people say man those ribs were good. I couldn't believe it I can't imagine what they would think if they actually had a taste of some good ribs. My partner and I (he has a BGE) just laughed at those ribs.

Glad to hear it.

I was tempted to put my ribs on today and leave them while I was at a grad event. But, I was scared leaving ribs. Maybe a few more successful smokes and I may give it a try.

A UDS is just hard to beat. On overnight smokes I will sleep 4 hours at a time without having to worry about it holding temp.

I love my drum too.. pretty much set it and forget it.   I want to see pics of the fishing tournament! That sounds like fun.

Ottertail Lake in Ottertail, MN is one of the many great walleye factories in the state of MN. They have lots of walleye tournaments out there each year and they are fun. Lots of local pro's fish too so you are going up against some really good fishermen. The wind was soo bad last Saturday morning. 60 MPH sustained winds for 45 minutes with 80 MPH winds. Two boats sunk and I know I was pretty darn scared. We almost didn't make it to the other side of the lake. One guy said that his depth finder was reading 12 ft deep then his motor would bottom out on the bottom of the lake. That is how big the waves were. My buddy almost blew out of the boat at one point. That is when we figured we better get the darn life jackets on and get across to the less windy side of the lake. I wish I would have brought my camera.
