No, I didn't put any kind of rub on/in it.  I just used my basic meatloaf recipe.  Good idea, though...I didn't think of coating it with rub.  I'll have to try that next time.

Congrats on a job well done!!

Abigail, did you use a dry rub on the meat loaf? and if so did you mix the rub thru-out the meat or just on the outside?

Thanks

Tom

If you are feeling like something new and you dont mind a little heat. Take Jeffs rub and mix it thru-out the meat, then just do up the loaf like normal. The rub I used to use is alot like Jeffs, when it was done and I sampled it, WOW it had one heck of a bite. I guess when the rub is  on ribs and such alot drips and runs off while cooking.

I don't know that it would be great for a main course of dinner but it makes a super awesome snack item.

That all looks tasty and great pics.

Jeff better watch out or he'll have to start begging you for him to get some time with his smokers. ;)

Meatloaf looked delicious, I havvn't been able to talk my wife into letting me smoke one of hers yet.  Soon hopefully!

A great looking meal. A lot of food.

Smoked meatloaf goes on the to-do list for me.

Even though we're in the San Francisco bay area we only have local fresh crab for a couple of months a year. The whale populations are growing and there are so many that get tangled in the lines for the crab traps that the Fish and Game doesn't allow traps to be set until the migrating numbers drop off. What used to be a November to May crab season is now January to March, if the crabbers are lucky.

Thanks, Jim - smoked meatloaf is so good. Definitely takes it up a notch.

It's time for meatloaf again at my house too. What an epic thread from fifteen years ago!
