Last Saturday my wife and I went trout fishing at Fuller Lake here in northern California. We fished from the shore using power bait. The highlight of the day happened when I caught a 15” German Brown trout. We ended the day with 8 trout between us.

When I got home, I froze all but two of the trout. The way that I freeze trout is to put them in Ziploc freezer bags, put in enough water to cover the fish, remove as much air from the bag as I can, and place them in the freezer. The fish last for months this way without getting freezer burn.

Sunday morning I cooked up the two smallest trout for breakfast. Trout and eggs are a great way to start the day.

Congratulations on a nice catch. Looks like some good future eats right there. Post cleaning we usually vacuum seal ours and toss in the freezer. I haven't seen any burn to date.

Looks good haven’t had much luck on trout this year but the crappie has just started now the fun begins

Nice haul! How does the taste of the brown compare to the rainbow? Ive never caught a brown large enough to consider keeping.

Nice catch Richard!
When I used to live in Lone Pine, CA I use to go up and catch a limit of planted rainbows on stocking day.
Then smoked them. Just fish and smoke.
Dad use to love to pan fry trout coated with Dixie Fry.
