Hey all, as some know I am on a low (not no carb) diet. As said before, hats off to you all that can do no carb. Much respect!

I follow that diet now ,have went from the mid 230’s to 202 …but once a month I will have a “cheat meal”.

Tried a cheat week… major backfire and I physically felt it! 🤷🏼‍♂️ Live and learn!

Yesterday was my cheat meal. These guys come around ever so often and they are legit! Legit enough to make it my cheat meal… so tasty!

So good… check them out if you don’t know about them!

Had the fish (Cod was amazing) and chips… and some awesome clam chowder with some tasty coleslaw!

I hope they come back soon or I am going to have to try figuring out what they do… I want my cheat meals to count!!

Thanks for looking and if you all have any Fish and Chip recipes … I’d really like to hear them!

Thanks all!

They swing by my parts about every month. You can sign up for their emails and get the schedule. I have yet to try them...with recent events I will need to see if they buttermilk dredge or not...sadly

Dave, I can email them and ask. Also, the gal I was going to chat with about the dairy intolerance I haven’t seen… but we’ve been going thru an audit. When I see her, I will inquire… Have not forgot about you!

No worries, I appreciate you for looking into this for me!

McCormick fish batter with a lager beer. Make it on the thin side, it should drizzle off the fish in a thin stream after you dip it. The coating turns out crispy but thin. Reheats great in an air fryer the next day, it gets crispy again.

I think it is an Alton Brown recipe for a tempura style fish.
Dust fish pieces in corn starch. Dip in a mix of 1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, and beer to wet into a thin slurry.

Those chips have been sugared before frying and probably why you like them. I like them too.

They pull into the Murdoch's parking lot, once in awhile around here. I still haven't tried it, there is always a big line. So it must be pretty good.
When you live where we live, you gotta take good fish when you can get it. There's no such thing as fresh seafood up here. Lol

I freak'in love F&Cs, there are several great places on the coast that make great F&Cs, but my fav place closed a few yrs ago. Their fish was fresh cod, their pieces were as big as a flip flop sandal, and they gave you 3 pieces of fish, they were whole cod fillets, and a brown paper lunch bag full of fries for $12
You couldn't eat it all.

Great choice in cheat meals!!!

Very nice Justin.

First off, you are doing great with the weight.

Now about the Fish and Chips, that is our goto take out ( second for me by pizza )
We try everyplace that opens up around here just to see but when you find a good one , you know it .

We like a nice crispy fluffy batter, and big piece of fish. When I worked the resturants we would cut the fish ( 90 % of the time it was Haddock then maybe cod ) in 2 oz pieces, so when I do them at home I would make them between 2 -3 oz pieces. too big and it might not cook enough before the batter is done.

Like these... ( not my fish )

You bet my friend. I also emailed the On The Hook and asked about any dairy products in their batter recipe. I’ll let you know their response!

Justin, Looks like a great cheat meal ! I too am in the McCormick beer batter mix camp and I use yellow perch fillets for deep fried deliciousness.

Yeah that's a good looking cheat meal for sure!! Love a good fish and chips plate!!

@sandyut
Dave, got a response from On The Hook. Hope this helps!

Interesting...there is a Cajun fast food restaurant chain that started here couple years ago called "Off the Hook" I wonder did they steal the name and make a minor change to it?
iu

Keith, not sure on that. From my understanding, On The Hook started around 2014.
