Hi to everyone
So everyone has a opinion so what is the best most durable electric smoker.
I went through my second Masterbuilt. It actually caught fire and come to find out grease had got all the way down on the wiring at the bottom of the smoker for the heating element. I cleaned it every time after use. So needless to say Masterbuilt isn’t high on my list. I had a 30 inch are the 40 built better. I’ve been looking at all of them any ideals out there.
Thanks Eric

Cookshack makes excellent electric smokers. There are other more inexpensive options out there as well. I have a Smokin' It which are pretty good and there are others (SmokinTex for example). I personally think anything you can get at one of the big box stores would not be as well built.

What's your budget?

My friend just got a Rec Tec 700 and that thing is a bad to the bone!
I appreciate the advice I like the electric smokers to me a pellet grill would get expensive time you buy the pellets all the time. I use a AMAZEN tray In my electric. I’ve heard the pellet smokers smoke good though.

Had a Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker, had problems with the wire in the back of the cabinet burning out from the top control to the burner. Once i repaired it like six times, it did work for a long time.after it finally died i bought a Masterbuilt 30-Inch Electric Analog and have had it for about seven years and used it for many a long smoke and a bunch of all night smokes.
The best thing about the Analog is no "digital" parts to burn and the wires are out side of the unit so no worries about them melting. The grease in the bottom drips out of the hole in the bottom and as long as it is kept clear no fires.
Just make sure the unit stays dry and it should last forever.

My buddy did upgrade to a CookShack electric smoker. It does a great job smoking but it is a little pricey.

I appreciate it. I had the Gen1 30 inch for about 2 yrs. It worked good but when it caught fire I had went to the store. Got home after inspection on the very bottom of the smoker there is a cover for the element wiring. The cover was split from heat I guess and the wires were burnt. I wonder if the Gen2.5 are a lot better?

I've had and been using my Smokin It for over five years, it is kept outside in the weather under an official Smokin It cover. No issues what-so-ever.

I have a Cookshack electric that was manufactured on 4/3/2003. I got it a couple months later as a birthday gift from my wife. After 15+ years, and 100s of smokes it's never missed a beat. It sits outside on a deck, covered when not in use. I've used it when the temperature was 100F+, and my coldest smoke was when the ambient temp was -27F. No need for modifications like a mailbox mod, and the same for additional smoke generators like the Amazen tray or tube. The smoker temperatures hold true and 2-3 ounces of wood chunks provide all the smoke you need to get the job done. In all this time not a single part has failed or needed replacement. In short, it's done what it's supposed to do, and has consistently done so very well.

second vote here for Smokin-It electric smokers. I have an analog #3 and am very happy with it. My MES 30 is just collecting dust since I got the #3.
