I have both Tender Quick and cure # 1 now. Planning to smoke a couple of chickens on Sunday.
All I ever use is TQ as a dry cure.
However, if I was going to do a whole chicken, or a bunch of chicken thighs & drums, I would use Cure #1 in a brine cure, because a brine cure is better for those items, and I won't use TQ in a brine cure.

That's the plan. Pop's brine using cure #1. Going to smoke two chickens on Sunday.
