I've been using lump charcoal mixed with small seasoned oak chunks. The problem I am having is I burn a lot of charcoal on a single smoke. Can I use the minion method with stick wood or is it just best to build a good bed of coals then add a stick or two as needed. Thanks in advanced. Kyle.

I have a char griller with a side fire box.

If you have lump charcoal in and around your stick wood you should be able to use the minion method.  Lump lights fast and should keep the  the fire going while the sitcks ignite.

Just put a stick or two in the bottom, put some coals around it

Then another stick or two, maybe crosswise, and more coals.

Repeat till your basket or chamber is almost full

Then dump your lit lump right on top.

Build a good bed of coals then add a stick or two as needed. Also add some charcoal as needed. If you are burning to much charcoal there maybe other things at play here. Did you do all the standard mods for that smoker. As it is from the store it is not a great smoker. It leaks like a sieve and doesn't heat evenly. The thermometer that comes with it probably sux. Here are a couple links. First one is the best one.
