Hey Folks!

Been a bit since I posted because my MES30 was showing the dreaded ERR1 message code for a couple years now. I have been thinking about ribs so I decided to take it apart because the fix I kept seeing was fairly easy enough.

Got it apart and looked at the connections at the heating element and everything looked good. So I looked more and found this post where someone said their thermistor went bad:

I know the old post has a part number, but it seems that just the cable that then needs to be wired into the top cylinder and then into a connector at the bottom. I figured it may cost a couple bucks more to buy the thing fully assembled, so I wanted to see if there was anyone that could help me.

For reference, this is the top piece of the part I'm looking for. It then goes down the back of the unit and tucks down into the electrical box you can access from the bottom where it plugs into two pins.

Appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Appliance Factory Parts. Put in your model number and they give a pretty good parts breakdown.

Thanks, that didn't work though. They only have the parts you can buy through Masterbuilt and they don't want you drilling out the rivets on the back of their units. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if they can help otherwise I'll see what I can buy and piece together. Thanks folks!

If that doesn't work you can always do a simple rewire and buy a PID controller. The smoker will work better than it did new :)

Here's a detailed post on simple the rewire job for the MES to take a PID controller: https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/mes-rewire-simple-guide-no-back-removal-needed.267069/https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/mes-rewire-simple-guide-no-back-removal-needed.267069/

I hope this info helps :)
