I am looking at a MES (20070411). I can get it for free due to some points I have earned.

My question is, is this a good model? I hear get gen#1 not gen #2.

Thanks

I don't go by the serial number any longer--- I Can't keep track of all of them.

The one you want (Gen #1) has the digital controls in a slanted box that fits on the back of the top.

The one you don't want (Gen #2) has the controls built into the top of the front, above the door.

There are many other differences, but that's the easiest way to recognize it on sight.

Thanks Bear,

That one has the controls back center of top, slanted as you said.

That make me feel better!!!!!!!!!

This is the same unit I just bought for my camper! I really like it.

It is a 30 inch Gen 1 with a glass door.

Thanks Bear,

That one has the controls back center of top, slanted as you said.

That make me feel better!!!!!!!!!
You should be in good shape with that one.

The only other things you should have to make your smoking Perfect would be a Digital wireless therm, like a Maverick ET-732, and an AMNPS for smoke.

Then you can set the temp where you want, fill up & light the AMNPS, and sit back and relax, while you get up to 12 hours of perfect smoke without touching it. A smoking match made in heaven.
