Yes another thread on MES vs. WSM,
I'm not a fan of MES. I started using it solely for cold smoking and my WSM became my dedicated smoker.
Then I ran out of charcoal. At my local Home Depot, I noticed that bags are nearly $18 (what the heck). Until the price of charcoal goes down (which is when Home Depot will have their annual $5.99 for 2 bags sale--in May), I'm back with my MES.
I say this is the only problem with the WSM--charcoal can be very expensive and I tend to go through a lot of it.
This weekend, I really want to do some wings. While it's possible to do wings in the MES, afterwards, you have to put them on gasser to crisp them up. At 275*, you're gonna gonna get crispy wings as we all love.
I still say the MES is not as reliable but if monitored, it can put out some pretty good que (That is if we want to consider the out product of the MES as real BBQ). lol
