I've got the "plain Jane" MES 30 Digital Gen I with no window or remote and I love it. If you're sure the used model you found for $150 is in good shape it might be worth buying since the price for a new one on Amazon is $284.91.  A new barebones MES Digital 30 Gen I (like mine) can be found for anywhere between $135 (or so) to $190.

Listen, I will make a serious suggestion to you. Before you make up your mind, call Masterbuilt Customer Service

Its a toll free niumber 800 489 1581.

Ask them. While your there you may find a better deal or even a better smoke for only a few dollars more. If I could get a new one, with a new guarantee, at or about the same price, you know what I would buy.

If you like and enjoy smoking and depending upon what you are going to be doing, if you can find a MES40 for only slightly more.... I wish I would have got one first.

Just my thoughts.

You may very well need an auxiliary method to generate smoke. You may want to figure that cost into your overall expense. Just Saying.

According to Amazon, that one would be a Gen #1 MES 30:

Here it is:

BTW Electricblue,

I posted that link to show you what smoker the model 20070411 was, to answer your question.

I in no way was suggesting that was a good price.

This thing is great!  Holds temp.  Remote from the couch.  Gonna smoke some deer summer sausage Sunday......

Let us hope that they do something to save their reputation. They need to do something to make up for the disastrous generation 2. You know you have a problem when people are seeking out the older version of your product over you "new and improved" one.
