MES 40 Butts & wings!!

[Nutshell]

The MES did great today! 7# butt and 60 wings. The wings came out awesome. 2 hours @ 225 then on to the 500 degree Weber for about 7 minutes. Soooo good! The butt should be ready by 6 PM. AMNPS worked great with a mix of hickory, apple and charcoal pellets. Also, filled the chip tray with lump charcoal. I’m liking the charcoal flavor on the wings.

I’ve probably used every kind of pellet besides charcoal. How do you like those? Been curious but never bought them.

Where did you get the charcoal pellets?

I've tried lump in the chip holder both in pieces and crushed and had zero success getting anything to happen.

I like the Jack Daniel's charcoal flavored pellets you can get from Todd in 1lb bags. They have a little oak maybe from the barrels but the charcoal is the Sugar Maple they drip the whiskey through for mellowing. It makes for a lighter TBS. Luckily I can get the 20lb bags locally at a fireplace store for $24.00. I have been putting in charcoal first then other pellets on top. Super easy to light.

I use Smoke Daddy.

I didn’t know you could get them from Todd. They worked great and the Royal Oak lump charcoal stayed lit and burned to a pile of white ash. I refilled the tray twice, easy and worked well

I lit it with a torch. From there, it went well.
