Recently picked up a curb alert MES 30, and the temp shows 32 on display with daily temp around 93. Just thinking the internal temp probe is defective. Anyone else dealt with this? I put a lighter on the probe and it got up to 300 but once it started cooling down it started bouncing all over the place.

Yeah , that's normally a cold weather problem . Sounds like you know that .
I'd start by unplugging it and checking the connections to the element . Needs to be done , so just get that out of the way .
I wouldn't take it to 300 . Not for testing . No chance of tripping the limit if you test at 250 or less .

If you have the money , make it easy on yourself . Do the re-wire and put an Auber controller on it .

I second this for sure especially since it was a curbside pickup. It's the easiest way to fix it and at the same time make it a much better smoker.
