I am a newbie to smoking but I think this is the smoker I want. I only plan on using the smoker for tailgating and cooking ribs or chicken wings. I already have one great tip which is the metal sheet from home depot. Anymore tips? Pellets vs wood chips? Do I need the ampns to use pellets? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the MES partly to give me the option and use wood chips as tat is what I use on my offset barrel smoker. It cuts down on duplicate inventory of chips (and extra costs. Hey, I'm an accountant!)

I got the little accessory side box from masterbuilt, so far it seems to work pretty good, continual even smoke for 4 hours straight that I know of (they say up to 8 hours) but I can vouch for up to 4 which is when I turned it off. I did put some sealing tape around the spout and that solved the leaks. I think it's called lava tape from amazon. I have the 40" electric for my small batches of stuff.

Now I know it'll do 6+ hours continual smoke without adding more wood.
I kind of like that its not billowing smoke then tapering down to no smoke until you add more wood then billowing smoke again, like a little chief does..this little side box is just continual light smoke and not thick clouds of billowing smoke.
