My wife is a nurse & must wear a mask all day at work. She wanted her own masks so she could bring home and wash. They offered reusable mask but they were wash together then you got another the next day. Chance of getting your own back was very slim. Have a neighbor lady making mask that the wife bought a bunch to have her own. The masks were made with hair ties because elastic is in short supply. My wife was complaining about them really hurting her ears. I took ear plugs & cut a slit in them then use double faced tape to put back together. She saids feels much better but the real test will be tomorrow after a day of work.
Thanks for looking.

I hope it works, buzzy. I have a feeling that masks are going to be in fashion for a while and any ideas about making your own are great.
Bless your wife for risking hazard to help us all....

Folks got to remember that a mask is fine but it only covers two-thirds of the problem. The eyes are an opening as well
For general public wear the mask isn’t to keep germs from you. It’s to keep you from spraying droplets to others. Even cloth masks reduce that significantly making the viral load passed sockowcthst infecting others is a much lower chance.

Nice adaptation. My wife, who sews, was looking at her fabric stock and realized she also didn't have any elastic. I said, "Use the elastic from a pair of old, clean underwear." That's her plan if she has to make masks for us.

My wife is IT at local hospital.
She is also a creative sewing type and has (had) a good inventory of elastic. She has custom made about 3 dozen masks.

I don't have any photos, but many of the nurses wear headbands with sewn on buttons to hook the face mask loops and save the ears.

I found elastic on line and got it in 3 days. Our company also wants us to turn in their supplied cloth masks in to get washed. Myself and others refused. When they asked me why. I told them that I'm not trusting my health over wearing a mask that was used by another. And then asked them if they would wear someone else's underwear after it got washed? They saw my point.

@buzzy we tried the hair tie things too. They were brutal to the ears.
