Hi All,

I am trying to add the mailbox mod to my MES 30.  Can someone explain how to remove the chip tray? Also, does the heating element stay connected or does that get removed?  Hope that is not a dumb question.

Thanks,

Greg.

HI there.  Not familiar with the removal of the chip tray on the MES 30, but I do know that the element stays intact.

Someone else will be along shortly to assist with the tray question.

I never did a MB Mod, because all of my MES work fine with my AMNPS without it.

However I would imagine if you want to remove the Chip Burner Assemble, it would depend on which MES you have.

For the Generation #1 there are 3 screws around the collar to the right, and I believe there are one or two connecting the left end to the Support rods. I only know this because I had to replace my one Chip Burner Assembly with the FREE Retrofit I got years ago.

And removing the Heating Element would turn it into a Cold Smoker only.

I've done the mod for my MES 30 and I didn't bother removing the chip tray, ample smoke still makes it into the chamber with it in place.  Like Bear said unless you want this to be a cold smoker I wouldn't touch the heating element!  Obviously the loader just needs to be pulled out by the handle to connect your tubing.  Mine works great!

Good luck!

Thanks everyone  for the help.  I'll try leaving everything alone and just plug in the flexpipe where the chip tray goes.
