I've never made LOX but I always use this brine when smoking salmon which works very well. Maybe it would be great for making LOX.

½ Gallon Dole pine-orange banana juice
½ cup non-Iodized salt
1/3 cup of white sugar
1 lb. (1 box) of brown sugar
12 ounces of molasses
Soak For 12 hrs. Do not rinse

Glad to have you with us!

Lox is a little different, in that traditionally it would not have a sweet taste.

I'm sure your recipe will make awesome salmon, but I don't think it would be good for lox.

Thanks for sharing it with us though.

I've been making lox for several years and have always done a dry brine.... (no reason in particular, that's just how I've always done it)... Generally I use honey instead of sugar and also use cure #1....
