Hi folks. This weekend is my dad's 50th. It's the long weekend up in Canada and we're going up to my cottage and having a small party for him. There will be about 10 of us for the dinner on Sunday.

I was going to either do a brisket or a butt, but I'd rather not spend the 12 hours that it takes to do those and spend more time hanging out with friends and family away from the smoker.

I'm looking at doing a few things that won't take as long. I was thinking of wings, but I think I'll just do them in the fryer and do a few flavors.

I'm definately doing Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans and maybe some ABT's on the BBQ, but that's where I'm stuck at this point. I've seen lots of these CSR's here lately. Never seen a cut of pork called that up here. Is it called something else as well? I gather they're a shorter smoke and "fairly easy" from what I've read.

I'd love to hear some suggestions from you guys. I'm open to anything.

I would consider doing whole chickens, large chuck roast, whole pork loin,
or a whole rib-eye. None of these take exceptionally long and usually are
enthusiastically welcomed.
Might consider also some wings, fatties, and abt's to add to the mix.
Sounds like a fun outing, hope your weather is perfect for you smoke.

Jack~

You could make your own country style boneless ribs by slicing them out of a butt either buy a boneless butt or de-bone one yourself. Shrimp Parmesan, Stuffed Peppers, Kabobs, Sausage, and Burgers are all fairly short smokes as well

Do your butts or briskets in advance and freeze and reheat at the cottage. Both respond well to reheats as does ribs.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Menu is as follows: Roast Beef on a kaiser bun with au jus dip, 1-2 hole birds for pulled chicken, 35ish crab stuffed ABT's, Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans and a few whole smoked garlic cloves. On the gasser, grilled mixed veggies with EVOO and sesame seeds and some chicken wings in the fryer for appies along with the ABT's.

Add in countless beers, blender drinks for the ladies a few shooters and a big bonfire; I'd call that a party!

I'll try to get a Q-View up next week when the headache goes away.

About the only thing I can add to what I have seen is a hearty appetite....so what time is dinner?

I was gonna add a roast beef I have done a couple here lately and they are quick and easy. Your choice of menu sounds really good for your gathering the only thing I see missing is plenty of the old sodas waters. Sounds Great and enjoy. Happy Birthday dad

How about a nice London Broil?

Or a Chuckie?

And can I talk you into a fish swap. One saltwater speckled trout for that nice Brown in your Profile pic. LOL
