Hi All,

I’m looking for a small pellet smoker for my family. While I appreciate that some people love the sear option, it’s not a factor for me. I won’t be cooking more than 1 brisket at a time so size isn’t really a factor either. I live in southeast Texas so winters are super mild so I’m not worried about cold weather issues. My basic concerns are taste obviously, ease of use, build quality, and ease of clean up.

I’m looking for something between 600 to 1200 all in but I don’t want to spend if it’s not necessary. Are my basic choices Camp chef, Rec Tec, GMG? What else should I consider?

Of the three you mentioned, I would opt for RecTec. I don't own one but know lots of folks that do, and have watched them in operation. They are significantly better built than the Camp Chef, and marginally better than GMG . They have better components and a better controller - they also cost more.
I'm a former owner of a Camp Chef DLX and I think it's a great grill for the price. But if you can swing a bit more, I think you'll get better longevity with the RT and it's worth the extra $$.

Is that model big enough to hold a whole brisket? I have a MES 30 right now and I’m looking for something that will hold a while one and not just a flat/point.

Absolutely. It's big enough for the biggest packer you could find. The main shelf is 429 sq inches - I believe the dimensions on that shelf are approx 16" x 27". That's a very good price.
