Pellet smokers are easier for sure! Can always add a smoke tube for added smoke.

I normally buy straight wood Lumberjack pellets and blend my own. Last time I went to Rural King, it was pretty much hickory and competition blend on the pallets so I went with the competition blend. Been through several bags and like it pretty well.

the comp blend seems to go well with all meats, thats one of the big reasons I like it. good smoke flavor too!

I picked up the PitBoss850 at Menards this week and got it put together today. I am running through the burn off right now then I am going to try it out later this week. I am really excited to put it through its places this spring and summer and see what it can do.

I also put this wood fire pizza oven together today. I got it from my cousin who won it in a raffle and didn't want it. It should be fun to play with this summer as well.

I like that oven too . Not just for pizza ,,, bread and whatever else fits in there .
Making pizza in an oven like that is addicting though . My Son has the Solo stove Pi Pizza , and I just bought the Chefman indoor electric , because sometimes you want to stay in the house . Lol .

Nice Pit Boss Duffman. I went cheap and got the small one. Only drawback is that it doesn't have a digital temp gauge. No 275. Goes from 250 to 300, weird. And I see a lot of recipes that call for 275 degrees. Have fun, I do. Turkey breast roast I did yesterday, yum.

Another thing, my Pit Boss had a grate on the pellet hopper, to keep little fingers out of the auger. I took that off, much easier to add pellets, move pellets around in there, and suck old pellets out of the auger feeder.

Congrats. IMO pellet grills are gonna keep getting better and eventually might get as good or better than stick. Smokefire is DEFINITELY a step up from the MES+AMNPS. There is a noticeable fire/combustion smell and taste that is absent from the MES.

Due to my frustrations smoking cheese, I went down a commercial smoking rig rabbit hole and noticed they all have water lines and add humidity control. Long story short, there are guys on Youtube that added steam injection to their pellet grills and claim that it's the missing link. Have not done it on the Smokefire yet, but I am using a moisture wicking towel setup in the MES to boost the humidity on my sausage/ham runs and am liking what it does. Cliff notes: smoke deposition increases as humidity increases.

I had a 22.5" WSM for about 7 or 8 years and then decided I wanted to be lazy and got a Green Mountain Grill (Jim Bowie). I did buy an aftermarket double rack system from BBQHQ in California for an additional $250. I got better quality and end product off of my WSM..... but the ease and convenience of my pellet grill has me using it way more often. I can do a brisket at 225 one day and the next a couple of tri-tips at 550.

Also be aware your WSM has no moving parts and no electronics.... a pellet grill does, so you will need to clean, replace, or repair something every once in a while (not often but be aware). I am really interested in the new Recteq RT-B380X Bullseye Deluxe - it can get upwards of 950°+ for true searing, or as low as 200° for low and slow.

I have owned only 1 pellet grill in my life, got divorced and sold it. Sadly I wouldnt buy the same one you have again as I hated the process to get to the pot for cleaning and to clean out the trough on the side. If I do go looking for another pellet grill Ill be more of a stickler on how to get at the pot/ cleaning procedure.

That was one of the things on my list when I was looking . I clean mine up with a plastic scraper and a paintbrush . Sweeps into a lower drawer , dump the drawer and you're done .

I have the Gen 2 SmokeFire , but my Sister has an upper model Traeger , I think it's a Pro something , 34 maybe ? It's nice . Makes good food too .
