Well folks,

I've been reading with interest Brennan's thread on the Char-Griller Smokin' Pro. I started looking at it with envy and then interest. Mrs. Meowey said I could so I broke down and ordered one today. It is going to keep the GOSM company on the patio. I have been informed by the same Mrs. Meowey that something (not her) has to go. I have a kettle style charcoal grill that will be removed from that same said patio. (I hope that is enough to appease her!) It is supposed to be here next Thursday. I've already been sent an email that it is shipping today. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!!!!!!

I have been reading about mods. I'm going to get some furnace cement and an aluminum dryer vent w/ clamp and incorporate them into the assembly.

Feel free to give me all the free advice you can dish out. My biggest apprehension is that I have to learn fire control.

Happy happy, Joy joy!!

Looking forward to everything!

Take care, have fun, and do good!

Meowey

My dear Smokin' Bro, Blackhawk19......

How could you be so selfish? You already own an ECB, which is a fine piece of smoking equipment!

My suggestion: At the very first opportunity, whether it is birthday, anniversary or whatever, honor your bride with a GOSM! She deserves a GOSM for the way she has made your years together so wonderful!

Treat her and you will be ever so well rewarded!

You're gonna thank me for this!

Cheers!

Congrats on the new smoker. I think its great when a wife finally gives in and allows you to buy something for yourself, I mean a wife lovingly decides to generously give you a wonderful gift.

Good for you! Hope you enjoy the new smoker! Imagine how my wife felt when I brought mine home, 15 years ago draggin behind the truck and parked it in the driveway. Been payin' for that one ever since.

Funny thing is though....I don't hear her complain when she's wrappin her lips around sumething smoke off it.

The Char griller is a fine unit for the price. Once you get the cast iron grates seasoned they are absolutely stick free. Youll need to seal some air leaks and then it will work fine. Good luck.

Way to go Meowy! With all that extra heat maybe you won't have to fight the snow so much this winter!

I need to get some new furnace seal. I got impatient and applied it completely wrong. It stuck for a while, but the glue crystallized and it started detaching. If I do it again, I'll probably use a thin, flat board and some really strong clamps to help set it in place for a few days.

Is the gap on the smokin' pro really big enough to cause a problem? I would thing that since the gap is at grate level and if you have the vent mod in there the heat and smoke loss from the gap shouldn't be a problem since the heat and smoke will fill up the smoker from the top down.

Just thought I'd throw that out there to maybe save you some headache.
