lid gasket

I was wondering if you guys are using a seal on your flat lids. Mine fits so snug , I am confused if I really need a seal. If you are ,is the rope gasket the choice? Also using the locking ring seems unnecessary. Any thoughts?

You don't need a gasket. I am using a Weber lid. but the smoker will help to seal it's self as you use it.

No gasket on my flat lid or locking device. It fits super tight without.
