LG 900 has been assembled and started first burn. I set to 500 degrees and let it run. The burn generated a lot of ash that covered the entire inside of the barrel and grill plates - actually, everything.
I shut it down and left it to cool for a few hours and then cleaned it up. Shop vac’d all the ash out and wiped it down. Thought I would run it at a lower temp and let it run a bit. Set at 250 and also added my own my temp probe that i use on my propane smoker. LG 900 showed 250, external therm running at around 380!?! So I turned it down to 200 and let it go a bit; LG 900 says 200 and other therm reads 170 and dropping.

Any advice hear before I panic?

That's better than thinking it was at 350 while it was really at 200......

There should be directions for adjusting the thermostat...

Hey mate, I'd be keen to hear how you got on with the varying temperature and how it working for you now. I'm about to get the LG900 soon.
Cheers Pete

Here is my LG900 update...
I used the unit for several weeks, and continued to see fluctuation in temps. My results were still very good, but I felt I was monitoring the temps too much. Sort of defeats the purpose of getting a pellet smoker, right?
Eventually, I had major temp drop. To compensate, I used the PRIME button to get more pellets going and get the temp back up. I went away for a bit, only to return to an excessive flame and heat. I burned out the thermometer that is attached to the control panel. After troubleshooting per the manual and calling customer service, I was sent a new thermometer sensor.
(CUSTOMER SERVICE was solid - asked me to try a few things and then sent me the new piece; no questions asked. He knew what I was dealing with and he got right to the issue - and didn’t put me on hold six times to assist me.)
Since I received the new therm sensor, all has been great. No temp fluctuations any more.
I really love this unit. It is getting used multiple days per week.
