Today we're packing up. And heading to buffalo for a few days. Had a great time here. Did some shopping. Did some fishing. And ate at a couple nice restaurants. And spent a lot of time on the balcony watching the river life.
Beer pole vacation style!

Also got some of my favorite cheeses from the River Rat Store.

And the pickled sausages are delicious!

Awesome . Love those pics . I'm 5 minutes from the Missouri and Mississippi river . I drive down to a small boat access and just sit on the tailgate of the truck and watch .
You got some nice goodies there . That Maple cheese looks interesting .

Sounds like you had a nice time Steve, nice pics
Thanks Jim!

Thanks! I haven't had the Maple cheese before. I'll let you know what I think about it.

Looks like a good time. I love those River Rat cheeses. I don't see it around here often, but I pick some up whenever I do.

And its weird as hell to see a hometown beer posted on here. The ADK brewery is one of our go to places when we're looking for a casual dinner out.

It looks like you had a nice time and the weather looks pretty gorgeous. I’m interested in what you say about the maple cheese also.

Sorry to hear about the one that got away and broke your rod. This is a perfect fish tale to be embellished on down the road! You have to add 2” each year as you retell the story.

Looks like awesome down time to me😄 I’m glad you were able to sit and watch the wheels go round and round. I grew up on a river and also spent a lot of time on the Mississippi. It’s definitely a place you can find a party or to relax.

Hey Steve, very curious regarding the cheeses. I grew up in the finger lakes region and as a kid, dad always had a large wedge of great white cheddar around. It crumbled a bit, had that slight bit of grittiness in it and hit ya in the back of the throat. Dad described it as biting you back :emoji_laughing:. Loved that stuff but fast forward 60 years and sadly haven't found anything that comes close. When you get a chance can you tell me which one of those might be worth the effort to have shipped out here?

Thanks! It was a great time. I really like their beer too.

Thanks Joe! When I've had a few. I'm sure it will get larger!

Thanks! It was. We try to get here once a year.

The flavor crystals in the 8 year is present. But the 14 and 16 year old is amazing in flavor. A half pound is reasonably priced at 16.00
Right now they are not shipping out of NY due to the heat. But when they are shipping. I've seen them have free shipping for orders over 50.00
My favorite local cheese used to be Helluva good cheese. But they sold out. And moved out of state. They used to have the cheese I think you are referring to. It was an aged extremely sharp cheddar. And it did crumble pretty easily There was a road stand not far from our house that sold it. That made for awesome mac and cheese. The "mean and nasty" cheese in the picture is plenty sharp. But not aged enough to start to get those crystals. Though. I have a few blocks that I've aged for 3 years now. And they are forming nicely!

We’ve been through that area on the Canadian side many times driving to Montreal. I’ve always wondered about stopping and enjoying a couple of days. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Yup, Helluva Good was a great cheese and it's what we used to get when we came back to Keuka for a vacation. Can't say it was the same as what Dad used to buy from the local butcher shop but it was darn close! I'll keep an eye on the temps up there and place a call when it drops. Probably in Sept?

I would guess around then.

Looks like a good time Steve. We are so overdue for a vaca... But we have a grand baby due in under 4 weeks so we are on call for same day flights.
