Last Call for Schlitz Beer

All those old time Milwaukee beers are owned and produced by Pabst. Schiltz/Blatz/PBR/etc. Old Milwaukee is the best of all the them. I like it more than Bud. Not to be confused with Milwaukee's Best (beast).
I like Old Milwaukee too...

Cant believe no one has mentioned Miller yet

That was my first drunk (14/15 years old) after sneaking into the drive-in in the trunk of the car... 2 of them and I was heeving and asking God to please get me through this and I'll never do it again... Well... I didn't live up to my end of the bargain...

All the name-brand beers sell at modest profit margins. It's the craft beers that make the big bucks. Announcing Schlitz is going away makes it rare and a special commodity while they sell out stock and then some at higher-than-normal profits. I'll bet within 5 years the name will be back...it's too valuable a "brand" to let languish for long.
Marketing is all showmanship and showmanship is all timing.

Never drank Schlitz much but plenty of micky’s best, (we called it) it was cheap after all and we were in high school. Sad to see a 170 something year old brand go away just the same.

Lately been enjoying a Texas beer. Shiner Black Lager. Very interesting for a dark lager, delicious actually but I do enjoy darker beer .
Agreed, not sure why they would stop making a brand when they own it. I mean, even contract brewed it would still exist, which has to be good for something.
Shiner Bock, is my summer BBQ beer.
I don't drink as many as I did a few yrs ago, but I still enjoy a few cold Shiner's while tending the coals.
My brother in law visiting from TX last year was so happy he was able to get Shiner Bock here. He's originally from OH, and the one thing he misses is the 'local' brews of old.
The Bock is good also, but the black is another notch up. They say it’s a Bohemian black lager that stays true to the German and Czech immigrants. Imported Czech Saaz and Styrian hops and selected roasted malts make this Schwarzbier their darkest beer.

It’s darn good.
I'll have to look for some of this. I seldom buy commercial beer, but I still try stuff from time to time. If I can find some, I'll give it a shot.
I need to build a keg'o rator, bock on tap is great in the summer heat.
I have built them before, and a few years back when my old one died I simply bought one. Way less hassle, and works splendid. I fill mine with home-brew. I do rather a lot of brewing.
