Last Call for Schlitz Beer

Seems Pabst brewing is stopping production of the beer that made Milwaukee famous.

The crazy thing is that it's a huge seller at my local bar especially among the younger folks.

I thought they stopped awhile back. I don't recall seeing it in the beer section in the grocery store, but I don't really look for it either

Schiltz I thought they stopped brewing that years ago. After the great $hitz outbreak of 79.

They use to have a "honor" fridge at the golf course for after the round. Grab a beer, put a dollar in the cup. Schlitz was the main beer sold out of the 3 that were offered.

All those old time Milwaukee beers are owned and produced by Pabst. Schiltz/Blatz/PBR/etc. Old Milwaukee is the best of all the them. I like it more than Bud. Not to be confused with Milwaukee's Best (beast).

Remember back @ College: Got Schlitz s for weekly dorm keg party.
Only needed 10 guys to pay $2 each, went and got a keg.
Named it S-H-I-T-S !
I am a Genny Cream Ale guy , Dad,s last Tavern had 25c drafts.

Never drank Schlitz much but plenty of micky’s best, (we called it) it was cheap after all and we were in high school. Sad to see a 170 something year old brand go away just the same.

Lately been enjoying a Texas beer. Shiner Black Lager. Very interesting for a dark lager, delicious actually but I do enjoy darker beer .

The Bock is good also, but the black is another notch up. They say it’s a Bohemian black lager that stays true to the German and Czech immigrants. Imported Czech Saaz and Styrian hops and selected roasted malts make this Schwarzbier their darkest beer.

It’s darn good.

all of them were horrid. my grass man would drive to the closest Arkansas seller about once a month and come back with a whole damn platoons worth of red label. I drank it, because it was there and they didn't care how much of it I drank. After a few hits on his homespun PVC bong, it was better. If I kept it to under a 6'er or so I was ok. More than that, mucho de el regret-o

Only people I ever knew that wouldn't put water in a bong. Why? Because when it tumps over there was less mess to deal with.

Move another few years later and I drank Blatz.

Blitz-Weinhard Henry's ale on tap was my favorite. The lager sucked

Oh man, we'd tear that up! Never seen it and confirmed not in Ohio at all. Favorite style of mine and wife.

Been awhile but recall PBR being REALLY close to Schlitz. Hamm's was the go to here locally. Old Milwaukee has the most german influence of all light american lagers. There was a huge "pre pro" (pre-prohibition lager) homebrew phase a few years back. This is beer that german immigrants brewed here in the US. It was quality over quantity beer. Holy crap that stuff was good. Was hoping the trend caught on commerically but it never did.

I haven't seen the black out here yet, we've only started getting the bock 3 to 5 yrs ago. I need to build a keg'o rator, bock on tap is great in the summer heat.
