Well, my company has decided to have their annual meeting in Las Vagas this year

So, I'll have to be there the week of October 21st. It's not really a place for me so I'll be needing a good shrink when I return.

Well, for me, there's nothing to do, and coming from a small but growing town, it's too noisey and busy.

I usually need a good shrink while I'm there...

Had to go on business three years consecutive.....one year was two separate two week stretches......After a few days it's " Do we have to go out to dinner and gamble again?" lol.............I think we paid for some of the Bellagio chandeliers in slots.

Anyway, if you like the "hawaiian fusion" thing there's a price fixe menu at Roy's that we went crazy over......Roy Yamiguchi is a famous Hawaiian that now has several restaurants but the food and the sake selection is to die for.

For Mexican food, theres a place called cozymels that was good along with quite the marguerita menu and great salsa.

If you can spring for it, absolutely have a seven or eight course dinner at the Stratosphere. They give a different glass of wine with each course and the lobster raviolis and my first taste of quail was superb.

Another great dinner was the Golden Nugget, one of the only leftovers from the ratpack days, now in a seedier part of town but once inside you'll never know due to the great service, the Sinatra feel and the pictures of old vegas everywhere. Steaks are the protocol here.

Other than that I can tell you that shopping on the outskirts of town is interesting and you can always take a bus trip to the hoover dam.

If this is your first trip it's always exciting to tour the various casinos even if you're not gambling.....oh and if you're a stoned crab eater, Joe's Crab at Caesars is pricey but delicious.

My favorite hotel is Paris, probably because the buffet was outstanding and we were allowed to loiter as long as it took to get our share of vittles.

Go have a good time at Jimmy Buffets Margueritaville, the nachos are served "volcano" style and the burgers are remarkable...
Great view of the strip if you're willing to wait a bit in line to get rooftop dining.

Have fun and cheer up, they could have picked Buffalo....then you'd have to come and hang with me and eat barbecue all week......

Not my first time, thanks for the info. The only saving grace is the company dinner! Spare no expense. Last year we had 15 attending and the bill was over well 5k.....yup, I was the one who ordered the $500 bottle of wine

And if you get homesick, they have an AWESOME Bass Pro there just offa I-15 on the south side of town...just bypass the casino and the buffet connected to it, they aren't that great.

In addition to the above choices, I've found Hugo's Cellar to have awesome steaks and N9NE is incredible as well. Bobby Flay also has a resturant out there. Vegas isn't all gambling and nudie shows. There truly is something for everyone there. Do a little research, take the advice given here, and make the best of what some of us seriously wish our cheap companies would spring for :)

Please don't holed that against me, I'm just trying to support my family. Oh, and believe me if I could get out I would.

You could always do what we do for a day or 2...Go rent some Harleys and take some bike trips through the valley of fire, hoovers dam, etc...

I have gone every year for the past 7 years or so, but I just couldn't stomach going again this year.

The Harleys were sure fun though!!

Geocaching is one of my other hobbied,Its a treasure hunt you use a gps
to put in the cords and off you go Its not as easy as you would think because the gps only gets you close. Look it up at Geocaching.com
It a great hobbie you get a lot of exercise and you can kill a whole day looking for the caches. Vegas has a lot of them
Good luck and Good smoking

Hey Vegas aint all bad. Oct, is a good time of the year to be out here you just missed a real long hot summer. The weather is finally cooling, nice in the morning and just warm in the afternnoon. I checked you profile and it says you like hiking and camping. Well on the outskirts of the west end of town is the RedRock Canyon with a great view, a scenic route and lots of hiking trails. Not far from there is Mount Charleston, We had snow on the top last week when it rained down in the valley Vegas. Make the best of it quit your whining!! I don't put down your town. hehehe!!
