Smoked at 220 with apple dust for 2 hours.

Sampled a slice. It has potential but on it's own it's pretty salty...it's Spam. A little spicy with a hint of BBQ flavor.

Will grill a couple of slices along with supper.

Better,a little less salty tasting after being grilled.

Thinking about what I can add it to or serve it with.

I guess I should’ve said. I think I read where it was a Walmart exclusive right now so I had mine shipped from Walmart.
I only bought one can my wife will not eat spam but I love it, but wasn’t sure about the flavor but with all these ideas for recipes and dishes I wish I had bought four or five cans. I want to try just about every one of them.
Our local WM has it. Gonna put it on the grocery list for next time to try. I love Spam but have never been impressed with the flavor variations, but I like to try them at least once. The Great value brand Spam is just as good as brand name Spam in my opinion. I dont like "Treat" though.

My wife doesn't like Spam either. Isn't that weird that so many women dont like it?
I'll be waiting patiently. I've tried the bacon before and didn't care for it.

Chris
This is the version my wife actually likes. So weird that she likes it...and I wasn't impressed.

WM had some canned ham at a really good price that I "prepper" stocked up on. I fried that up and she liked it...tasted almost identical to Spam to me! I even had her taste the ham right out of the can (In case of emergency, one might need to eat it that way) to be sure it didn't repulse her before I bought a quantity for the emergency pantry. She said she could easily eat it. Go figure.

I think it's something about the name "Spam" or something, because like I wrote, the canned ham is a chopped and pressed product that other than having larger chunks of ham, to me, tastes a lot like Spam.

I mixed some with doctored up canned Bush's beans yesterday,just meh.To be honest I won't buy it again,we much prefer the 25% less sodium regular Spam,smoked and grilled/fried.

My wife is another that will not eat Spam.
The only Spam I'll buy anymore is the 25% less sodium. The Classic is just way too salty. Smoked and grilled/fried just like normanaj normanaj .

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this...

So I finally got around to making my Korean BBQ Spam Loco Moco. This is close to my favorite Loco Moco recipe, as shown here.

I think Loco Moco is pretty ad-hoc, so if you don't have these exact ingredients, you can use something close. Here's what I used:

* 1/3 onion diced
* 1 minced garlic clove
* 4 slices spam

* 1TBSP cornstarch, mixed with 1TBSP soy sauce (use your finger on a small dish to break down the soy into an even mixture).
* 1 cup chicken stock
* 1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
* 1 TBSP ketchup
* 1 TBSP oyster sauce
* 1 TBSP mirin to deglaze pan.

Make some rice and set aside. Then mix the above, except for the mirin, onion, spam, and garlic. Then sautee your spam with the onions to get the spam nice and browned. You can also do the eggs at the same time if you feel like juggling pans.

Set asize the spam and eggs and deglaze the sauteed onions with mirin. Then add the mixture from above.

Simmer until nice and thickish

Flatten the rice in a bowl, then flip on a plate so you have a nice rice mound.

Add the spam

Then the gravy.

Then the egg, and optionally sprinkle with a bit of seaweed seasoning for effect. Ignore the Kimchi -- I feel it didn't blend too well with this recipe.

So there you have it! Spam Loco Moco with Korean BBQ spam. It was delicious! However, in my opinion, the Korean BBQ was not better than normal spam in this recipe, lol. The normal spam contrasts a bit more with this dish, which I like. The Korean BBQ spam is less cured-tasting, but also blends into this dish so seamlessly I couldn't taste it as much (which you may prefer instead).

Anyhow, thought you all would enjoy that. Cheers!
