My niece is a very picky eater. She does like Korean food so I put some stuff together.

I started with rice in a rice cooker. Then fired up the Korean BBQ. It was pretty windy today so I placed it in the pit for safety.

I cooked up some pork belly and short ribs on it.

I had all the veggies prepped last night and only a few of them needed to be cooked. I also made a good sauce from Gochujang.

It all turned out pretty good and she even liked it.

Looks great especially at home.
Wife and I along with another couple went to a Korean restaurant where you grill your own meat and veggies. Fun, but at $40 each, I can do it at home for much less.
Korean restaurants are also pretty expensive where I live. I could drive to Korea Town in Downtown Los Angeles for better and cheaper but I really hate driving anywhere near LA city.

Beautiful bowls! Korean food always seems to be a dozen different things. Haven't been to one in a while but always love the many little bowls of stuff they serve in the restaurants. Always loved kimchi jjigae and kimchi in general. I like my kimchi really sour, so I buy it a few months ahead from the Asain market (It's always fresher and sweeter than I like it), let it sit at room temp for several days then in the fridge for a good couple of months. I eat it right out of the jar as a snack usually!

Bibimbap is also one of the most recognizable Korean dishes found on menus. I never got the egg on top thing, people do that with a lot of stuff...like hamburgers. For some reason an egg just never made sense with meals like that to me, but I stay true to the assembly with Ramen bowls for instance and do the soft boiled egg, split on top for some reason! Everyone else likes it and it does "look" good.

We have a new Korean grill and hotpot in town we haven't tried. You are right, its expensive and dont be in a hurry. I've eaten at them and it takes some time. In the winter I want to go try the hotpot. There was a Chinese place I used to go to that had a "bridge noodle soup". No idea what that meant but it came with a bowl of piping hot broth and several plates of ingredients to add-in. Some of the meat was raw so you add that right away. Another big time commitment but was fun to eat.
