Sounds like a few of us are cut from the same cloth and have our priorities in order :emoji_laughing: In addition to the 10 kegs of beer, I have 8 bottles of top shelf single malt scotches and single barrel small batch bourbons. Robert

Jan likes to keep me well stocked with Evan, if we run out I have to go to the wine cabinet.

Man, sawhorseray sawhorseray that glenlevit has to be smooth, had some aged 18 years and it was smooth. Never had any glenfiddich. Suddenly seems to be a pattern of glens!

Damn I wish we could have multiple freezers but here in Arizona just can't happen as it is just too hot to put them in the garage and we do not have basements....
John

I have 3 freezers in an enclosed pantry room 10x12... It was screaming hot in there with all 3 running... So I installed a window air conditioner in an exterior wall.... It costs a lot less to run 1 compressor that dumps the heat outside than it does to run 3 compressors that recirculate the heat in the same enclosed space.....

Both single malts are finished in sherry casks the last few years and both are very smooth. My favorite everyday single malt would be the Balvenie 12 year old double wood, I like The MacCallans very much also. For myself drinking single malt every night would be cost prohibitive, I like to imbibe a couple of 5-6 ounce glasses neat. I like the Evan well enough, I cut my teeth on Jack 50 years back and really don't see much difference in flavor, just the price tag. My wife never knows what to expect when I go shopping unsupervised, it's part of my charm. As you can see from the previous post, every once in a while I'll splurge on a $300 bottle, but I refuse to pay more than five bucks a pound for prime, also a part of my charm. RAY

I understand that the majority here are probably city dwellers, but has anyone ventured out to the rural areas and found a meat producer? I live rural and raise my own, some and buy from other producers.

There really aren't many parallels one can draw between the Pacific Northwest and summer in the desert Dave. Here in AZ one will run the AC 24/7 for five solid months if you tend to want to sleep at night. A 111º day will be 130º in the garage where the freezer is. Every trip into the garage requires a jump in the pool, nobody needs a pool in Seattle or Tacoma. RAY

If you find yourself running low, just send me a PM with your address and you'll be taken care of. Ask real nice and I might throw in a couple or nice steaks to help dilute all that alcohol :emoji_wink:

Appreciate the offer. I have enough spirits to get me well past any panicemic.
My brother said I should be home brewing a few years ago. Time to listen to his advice?

Regular Evan is eh, but the single barrel vintage is worth the price in my book.

If I want something fancier than Evan on occasion I'll pop for Four Roses, Woodford, or Bird Dog single barrel, that's a tough one to beat. Of course if I'm going to spend that kind of dough I'll most often be bringing home a decent bottle of scotch, satisfys my sweet tooth. Jack is over-rated and over-priced, used to be called "old #7 Brand" because it was aged seven years in the barrel and 90 proof. Now it's 80 proof and aged about four years. Just my 2¢ worth. RAY

You know, I live 45 minutes from the Jack Daniels distillery, and can't stand the stuff. I hate that because I'm a fan of all things Tennessee (Go Big Orange). If I have little extra jingle in the wallet, it's Woodford. But for my kayak/fishing/camping trips it's Evan and Coca-Cola.

I think we have something in common!
I'm more into Canadian blended, Scotch tastes like hairspray to me. Maybe I need to branch out somewhere once again. I was into some bourbons many years ago but never was a fan of Jack.

Are there any Cognac sippers in here? There is one I've developed a taste for!! Trouble is I'm ok for an underpriced "C" note versions, but I much prefer the over "C" note branded bottles! LOL just mummmm! Ok, I better go get a nip so I can still attest to this being the truth!

We have 3 freezers full of stuff. This will be a perfect opportunity to eat some of it up. Should have enough to last a couple of months! No need to go to the store for quite a while.

Alls it takes is a break in to relieve you of your stuff, how do I know? Our house got broke into, and they took everything out of two big chest freezers, hell they took charcoal , smoker wood and flour and a bunch of other crap.
I wouldn't leave your house unattended until this crap blows over.
Lock and load!!!!

2 of our freezers are on an outside patio, and I was seriously thinking we should chain them up. We'll have to see how serious this gets, but since we are retired we are around the house most of the time & I have plenty of ammo.

Al, I would at least figure out how to lock them to something, maybe a concrete anchor or something like that, make them work at it a bit longer.
It was a real bummer they also got an antique 12 people setting Sterling Silver flatware set that was my wives grandmothers and my food processor, Vac Master sealer, power tools and gas powered tools, pressure washer, my Sport Ear in ear hearing protection those were $1500 by themselves and a bunch of other stuff.....it was a real bummer. I'm just glad they didn't get any of our guns or my deep sea fishing gear, ammo or my wives jewelry. But the did get my bug out bag and an amazing first aid and survival kit that took me years to put together. I'd really try to figure out a way to secure those freezers, the thing that sucks is we lived in that house for 16 yrs and never had a problem and the last night we got hit, kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
