Ok so my mouth may have written a check my...well, mouth can't cash.

A couple of the guys and I were sitting around at the local Buffalo Wild Wings and the obvious topic came up, how hot can you handle??? Well long story short, we are getting together this Saturday (July 5th) to do a wing challenge. To prove our endurances each person is required to eat 2 wings of each subsequent sauce, starting at Caribbean Jerk and finishing with Blazin'! Each round is completed when all participants agree to take a small drink (you're only allowed one drink during the entire challenge).

Here's where I need your help!!! Do you have any suggestions on how to get the hot out of your mouth quickly??? Please help?!?

It may help to know that I can comfortably handle the sauces up to 'hot,' and if I'm feeling saucy, sorry-couldn't help it, I'll go up to Mango-Habanero.

We'll only be allowed milk when we get to the Blazin' sauce!!! That's kind of like taking the chicken exit on when you're getting on the rollercoasters...

Your crazy, i think well require pics of this.....good luck!

Any fatty substance... sour cream, butter, bacon grease... will "cut" the active stuff. Slide down easier without staying on your tongue. Show up "greased". Other parts of your anatomy may have issues later, but that is irrelevant in gentleman's wagers, right?

Try a test using milk, or another dairy product. Don't swallow the milk.

I saw a guy on the food network enter a pepper eating contest of some sort and he ate some real hot stuff before he started the contest so his mouth was already on fire. I think he ate a habenero pepper. Only an idea. This guy couldn't eat hot things and won the contest or got second. Good luck.

I have no suggestion for cooling down your palet but I would suggest before you leave for this contest your mouth got you registered in is to throw a roll or two of toilet paper in the freezer; your back side will thank you in the morinng !!!

Being a lover of HOT food such as BWW Blazin' wings... I usually order 24 or more and split them up between the 4 hottest sauces. I find it best to eat the hottest first. I rarely ever even take a drink until after I have finished the entire order.

Having been challenged many times before, I rarely flat lose. Take large bites and chew only what you need to get the meat down. Don't concentrate on the hot feeling, just enjoy it and smile at your friends.

Blazin is pretty warm, but I've eaten hotter by far. Good luck in the game.

Oh I can't do it. I am still laughing about what is coming the day after. Thats the heat I would be more concerned with. Oh my sides are hurting. I guess we are counting on you to represent the forums. you Go Pig wishing you well.

Capsaicin will bond to lipids so anything fattie will help remove the heat from your mouth. Liquids can be bad since they help spread the heat around. Bread can be good since it will absorb and hold the heat.

I always thought it was the oil in the peppers that burned so much and that liquid only spread the oil around, bread has always been the choice for me

good luck

is there a creek nearby you can sit in the next day??? he he he

What is best to “cool†the pungent sensation in your mouth? Water gives
immediate, but very brief, relief when it flushes away the free capsaicins
but leaves those that are hooked on to your taste/nerve receptors. But then
the hot sensation can actually feel more intense because the water rinses
away the other foodstuffs that had been diluting the effects of the
capsaicins. Starch foods, such as breads, mechanically remove some of the
capsaicins so they can help to reduce the pungency. But if you stop to
think about some very pungently hot ethnic dishes, you will notice that
most are served with sour cream or yogurt or other dairy product.
Traditionally, a few bites of the spicy hot food would be followed by a bit
of the cleansing dairy product. That way, the heat element can be enjoyed
and the other flavor notes within the food can follow. It is thought to be
the protein - casein - in dairy products which detaches the capsaicins from
your receptors and provides some relief.

If no dairy product is handy when you are in the mood for some hot peppers, an alternative is to eat more peppers. Your nerve receptors will become numb - after awhile!
