December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy...

Thank you to all who have served or are serving and a special shout out to those who were there that day...

A big thank you to all that have served! And especially to those that gave their lives on this day! I still remember visiting the USS Arizona memorial years ago...think I was in 1st grade at the time.

Watching a documentary on this right now. Some of this I knew and forgot, so good to be reminded of the history. Some things I didn't know, so good to learn. I wonder if any of this is taught in schools anymore? I seriously doubt it! One thing they keep repeating...don't ever forget! But the greatest thing I respect is for alot of those not involved in the attack, they didn't wait to be drafted... they lined up to join the armed forces! True patriotic Americans!

Father and 2 of his 4 brothers were all WWII veterans. They all made it home.
edit: forgot to mention 4th brother was too young for WWII but served during Korea. 2nd brother exempted as he was head of household after their father passed.

ALL gave some. Some gave ALL!

I'm disappointed! While I have never served in the military, I'm still a proud American! And will never forget why I have my freedoms. But posts about video games have how many responses? Don't take me the wrong way, I'm not trying to put anyone down so don't take it that way. But I still get goosebumps when I hear Lee Greenwood songs!

It’s been a trend overall. History Chanel does an American Picker marathon. Unfortunately, the weight of history continues its march.

So true Ryan ! I was really surprised when it was covered on the news on Tues after hardly no mention of DDay.
Love the Greenwood song and although not a fan of Billy Ray , he kills it on
"Some Gave All" . My dad a his 4 brothers joined up and had to stretch the true for all to go lol. And all made it back home

Grandpa was in France in WWI, lost a leg.
My dad was in Battle of the Bulge, served in France and Germany. Over half of his division was lost to a U-Boat in the English Channel.
My Uncle developed the rubber to steel bonding for Sherman tank treads.
Brother and cousin were in Vietnam.
The draft was canceled the month I was due to enlist in Vietnam.

As a heavy-lift helicopter mechanic, all of the pilots I worked with were Vietnam vets. I wish we knew what PTSD was in the 70s. I sure witnessed it and wish I could have been better at helping.

Freedom has a price.
