I'm looking forward to some snow. I haven't had the sled out in 3 years. Last year I could have for a week but I didn't have it ready. I used to put at least a couple thousand km on in a season from home.

Ahhhhh....
I long for the quiet of a snowmachine free winter!
Those machines are just noise pollution

What is worse in my area, is they routinely run 'em wide open well after midnight in city limits and keep everyone awake all night.
The disrespect of bylaws by the snowmobilers is a pox on our society

Most of the people around here have fairly new sleds and they're not much for noise. The 4-stroke sleds are really quiet. We don't have a lot of noise issues with sleds. Usually more of a trespassing issue. They're supposed to stay on the trails but tend to ride where they want, usually on somebody's winter wheat. The local club has to settle up with the landowner for damages come spring.

In Sk, we are having a discussion about trespass laws, mostly due quads, hunters, and home invaders/thieves.

I'm a big proponent of Castle Doctrine to include the yard/home quarter

They beefed up the trespass laws and fines for such here a couple years ago. I like your proposals of having permission before you step on to somebody else's property. Almost all of southern Ontario is private property even though a large portion is farm land. People from town seem to think they can use a farmer's land or bush for their entertainment at will. I live on the front edge of a dairy farm with the town subdivisions now encroaching. The people from the subdivision wander all over leaving all kinds of garbage behind. Cans and glass in a hay field is not good for the cows digestion. Castle doctrine is only wishful thinking.
