Decided to give a single TriTip some love today. Coated with my rub and let it sit for about 10 minutes before it went on the fire. I dumped of the excess rub when it went on.

Here it is resting on the counter.

I'll post more as I go.

Got the [email protected] with hickory.

Looks delicious, Brian!  That's a mighty pretty plate... [IMG]   Don't see many tri-tips in my part of the country, but I'd tear into one of those!

The thickest part was 135 and the thinner outside was at 143.

Turned out extremely good. I was pleased. :sausage:

  15. NICE MEAT! I like others want some. To bad it is not a east coast (VA) cut.  A close cousin The Sirloin roast is in my future. Nice work.   Jted

Ask you local butcher or meat man and they may be able to get it for you. Its a great cut of meat.

    Perfectly done!

I don't eat many of them these days.  Prices have gone crazy.  It is a treat now.

Local supermarket chain had them on sale for 4.99/LB.

Trimmed they were 6.99/LB.  Crappy Select grade rib-eyes were 7.99/LB?

I like mine untrimmed anyway.  I guess with hamburger at 3.00/LB on sale, 4.99 isn't that bad?

But I can't help but remember the days when we bought tri tips because they were just a tad over the price of HB?

Not only does your tri tip look great, but your dinner plate looks to die for!

    Good luck and good smoking.

    Merv,

I know what you mean. At the beginning of spring I purchased a case of Tri Tips from Costco. Within 2 weeks the price was 40 cents higher and is now almost 2 bucks higher.

    Thanks for the praise.
