Is it enough smoke?

For those that have trouble keeping a tube going while in their smoker (assuming you got it started properly with a torch and let it go for 5 min or so before placing in the smoker) try wedging a nickel between the hood to allow a small crack to increase the air flow slightly. Place the open end of the tube perpendicular to the crack.
You won't be able to control the temps if you crack the hood, microwave the pellets is the best advice to give.
 
Maybe for some smokers but my MAK does a good job at maintaining temp despite the thin crack created by the nickel.
 
I went from burning wood to cook to using a pellet machine. it is different. Nothing tastes like wood coals, even though pellets turn into wood coals. It's not just smoke, it's a whole different profile.

I get enough smoke. I use a tube if I want to hit something for 2-3 hours (like burnt ends) then oven finish it, but if I'm smoking a butt for 8 hours I get plenty of flavor.
