Is high temp silicone required for new temp probes?

Hi all, I'm adding two more through door dial gauges in my Horizon offset. I don't have a tapping set so I will be using the washer and nuts supplied, do I need that high temp food safe silicone or does the nut clamp down pretty good? I have some gaps where the smoke escapes so a little will not change my process, just want to do it the right way. Thanks for the suggestions. Jason

I put 2 more gauges in my Lang & didn't use any sealant.

Try it first w/o then if it's needed add the sealant.

You can make a gasket(washer) of folded crumpled foil on the inside then washer-nut. It squashes and fills in slight gaps from drilling hole. No cure time, no clean up.

The foil idea is brilliant. If you do it, I'd recommend that you use the heavy-duty foil. The normal-gauge foil might split as it gets crimped.
