I had a batch of rub I got from a friend (about 5# IIRC) that I thought had the most terrible aftertaste. I found out after the fact that it had 2 tablespoons of tenderquick in it. (In the whole batch)
Had some more from him later that omitted it, and it it was fine.

Not all supertasters are alike, as being a supertaster results from one or a combination of increased number of fungiform taste buds, the particular genetic form of the TAS2R38 bitter-taste receptor they possess, and potential genetic differences in other taste bud types.

Also, being a supertaster has nothing to do with sensitivity to capsaicin (the compound that makes chili peppers spicy). Capsaicin binds the TRPV1 receptor which is the receptor responsible for the perception of heat (which is why peppers give you a birning sensation). Capsaicin binds, activates and kills the receptor (it's ok, your body makes thousands every day) which is why the more you eat spicy foods, the less sensitive you are to the spiciness. Stop eating peppers for a while and your receptor numbers go back up and you're sensitive to the heat again.

I'm a supertaster and I love chili peppers and spicy foods. But I hate bananas worse than anything.

And it may not change from restaurant to restaurant
How Sysco came to monopolize most of what you eat.

SAD but true, in many cases. The small town I live in, there is a Western PA pizza chain called Fox's Den, marginal. A Mom and Pop Pizza joint that is pretty good, not NJ/NY good, but they make good Pizza. There is the usual Cookie Cutter Americanized Chinese Restaurant, the kind that has the same Menu as a thousand other place, just the Name on the front is different. And two Family Style Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner places that the Locals gather to Gossip. The Breakfast is good, as it's usually hard to mess up. But the Lunch and Dinner menus are right off of Sysco's Frozen Convenience Foods Lineup! Frozen Breaded Seafood, Frozen Breaded Chicken Products, assorted Frozen Deep Fried Appetizers, Heat and Serve Frozen Entrees like Mac n' Cheese, Lasagna, Salisbury Steak in Gravy and Frozen Bag Du jour Soups. Early on I ordered Country Fried Steak w/ Cream Gravy, Peas and Mashed Potatoes. Seriously, how hard is it to get some Cube Steak, Double Flour Bread it, fry it and make some Pan Gravy with Milk, S&P???
This freakish nightmare turns out to be a 6 ounce, Frozen Breaded GROUND MYSTERY MEAT PATTY, with Add Water and heat Cream Gravy Mix. They used Instant Mashed Potatoes that, I think, was made with Milk and Margarine, with Frozen Peas that they likely portioned and Nuked but were tough and flavorless! All this for $10.95!
The shameful part, the Frozen Crap cost more, ounce for ounce, than making the food from Scratch! Select Top Round beaten into Cube Steak is under $4 a pound by the Case. That $2 per 8 ounce portions of Real Steak vs about $2.50 for the 6oz Frozen Ground PATTY of ????
My first full-time Kitchen Manager job, out of Culinary School, was in a Family owned Diner that had been in business for decades, I was taking over for Mom, who was retiring. The freezer walk-in was small and stored Turkey Breasts, the Veg and Shredded Potatoes for Hash Browns. Just about everything else on the menu was fresh made. Way Better Food and a Staff that ACTUALLY COOKED!...JJ
