good news guys

Go to weather underground .com   ( my favorite weather forcaster)

Hurricae is downgraded and should not restrengthen

read Dr jeff master wonderblog    he is usually right on the money    much better than the extremest local news channels

maybe it wont be as bad as we thought

Thanks Rick!

I can't remember catching the center of any Hurricane here before (like some of the prediction paths show), but I felt my first earthquake this week too, so who knows?!?!

They're usually spent by the time they get here, but that could change too.

I have a Sister & some nieces in NC too.

Fingers crossed for everyone!!

We have friends and family in New England, so I've been keeping a good eye on it.  Even on weather.com it seems to be downgraded a little every time I look.  New England really doesn't need the rain though, so they are now just preparing for flooding.

Good luck to all it hits!

The cloud bands are just starting to move in to my area and we are well inland. It is always interesting to see the wind and clouds moving from east to west. The breeze feels good.

All is quiet on the western front. Just a few clouds.

The east is a bit of a different story. Looks like Joe is about to get nailed.

Haven't heard from my Sister yet today.

Her whole family (4 kids) was at Outer Banks for their annual get together.

They pulled out a bit early (yesterday morning).

Then one went to NY by car, two went home in NC, and Sister lives in NC.

The other one & wife and baby have to stay at her house, because they can't fly home to Mass until Monday due to storm.

Looks like you guys are catching a bit of a break with Irene losing strength.   There will still be lots of rain and some tornados especially on the west side.     Not to put a damper on this but remember that as long as the current weather pattern stays the same any other tropical weather that comes across the Atlantic will want to follow a similar path.   We are sitting under a big high pressure system making it very hot during the day and cool in the evenings in the Southeast.  From what I understand this High pressure will tend to force the storms up the east coast or south into Mexico.   What you learn from Irene is good preperation for the next one.   Please don't forget that every storm has a life of it's own and if you where not seriously affected by this one the next one can surprise you.   Never think that you understand these things.  Never allow the inconvience of preparing for a storm when you didn't need to prevent you from preparing for one that you do.

One Thousand eight hundred and thirty six people learned that the hard way during Katrina

Good luck and I hope everyone stays safe.
