Hi all, I'm about to get a LG900 and am wondering if you guys have any tip n tricks for the initial burn or seasoning of the new grill?
Cheers Pete

Your manual should describe what to do for that unit for the initial burn. What I did with my pellet smoker was wash the oil/grease off the racks and heat diffuser plates - Simple Green works well - followed by a good rinsing and drying. My interior has a coating on the inside so I just lightly wiped that down with a damp cloth- it had no oily feel to it. Then put the plate and racks in and fired it up to whatever temp it said in the manual for whatever time was listed.

Yeah sounds good..
Was thinking I might spray cooking oil on the interior prior to the first burn off.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers Pete

Crank it as high as it will go for the first time to burn off any assembly grease/oils. For the second round, smoke something that has a high fat content to season the inside.

I really would NOT do that unless your manual calls for it. It would only serve to shield the crap you are trying to burn off and if your interior is coated/painted (I assume it is) it would just be a complete waste as it wouldn't be protecting the metal anyhow. Good luck!
