The ThermoPro TP02S 5 second thermometer is available on Amazon for $7.99. This thing REALLY has a 5 second read. I picked one up recently when my previous digital "fast read" (10-30 seconds) cheapie started taking forever and giving me false readings. It lasted two years. The ThermoPro has a 5 year replacement warranty. What the heck, I'll give it a try.
I use it mostly for the grill and the kitchen. Usually these cheapies say one thing and perform quite differently. Not this one. It actually stabilizes at the correct temp in 5 seconds. It was 1.2F high on the boiling water test, but I can live with that for the price.
