I am a woodworker, living in Kalamazoo MI and want a forum review on an idea I have. My workshop is in the basement of my garage hence the walls, ceiling, and floors are concrete and I have electric heaters. I have considered installing a wood heater for a couple of reasons- one is for heat and the other is to use the scrap wood I generate. The cost of installing a class A chimney is prohibitive. I am considering making/installing a smoker where the "fire box" is inside my shop and connected to the smoker compartment outside of my shop. When actually smoking food  I would use apple wood that I have acess to, but more often I would use wood scraps to generate heat for my shop and not be using the smoker box. . My questions-

Is this feasible at all?

How hot does the fire-box get; i.e how much scrap will it take? Will it help to heat/warm the shop?

Any comments on this idea are appreciated.

Thank you
