My exact thoughts as well.I personally wouldn't spend much on it given the date range . That's your choice though .
So, so true, Pop's is already home, it absolutely blows me away that they can remove a kidney on an 85-year-old man and send him home the next day expecting him to get around the house ok. I just got off the phone with Mom, and she said her and my aunt definitely had fun getting him up and down today. I kind of got pissed, I live 15 minutes away, and told them to call me if they needed any help. I should've known better. Oh well, they made it, I'll be over there tomorrow to help with him. It just pisses me off, that they send an old man home, when he can't even get up to use the John by himself... They have great insurance too. I can't imagine what they people are thinking these days, I'm sure it's the INS CO's that are behind it.I hope your father's surgery went well and he is also doing well. It is never easy to sit in the audience when someone you love is going through a tough time. Best wishes to you and your family.
Good luck on the rib cookoff. I wish you success!!!!
I also use a PID on my Baby. She holds temp really well but I am like you. I want a bit more to steady my mind during cooks.
If I ever need another smoker, I think I am going to build a drum smoker. They are just too utilitarian to pass on.
I just recommended a RecTec pellet grill to a friend of mine. He has a few $$ so I am sure he is getting one of the bigger ones.
I am really itching to fire up my pizza oven. I got two new books on pizza science and I am eager to put my new knowledge into practice.
My apologies for this rambling screed. Have a great weekend!!!

Total score, nice find!!!UPDATE!!!!
I think I found an amazing deal. Someone was selling a Smoking Brothers Pellet grill. It is one of their flaship models. I called their customer service and they confirmed what it was and that it is approximately 6-12 years old. Here are the pictures of it. The owner said they only smoked on it twice and that the original owner didn't smoke on it much either. What do you all think?
Not to put too fine a point on this but it costs less to send you home and have you take care of yourself. Whether you are ready or not. I hope your father's recovery comes along without any issues. Don't forget to take care of yourself too through all this. So, so true, Pop's is already home, it absolutely blows me away that they can remove a kidney on an 85-year-old man and send him home the next day expecting him to get around the house ok. They sent my 87 YO FIL home the same day for a knee replacement. He walked into the house, the next day the nerve block wore off and took one step hit the ground. That was 2 months ago, 3 more falls since and can barely take a few steps with a walker. So, so true, Pop's is already home, it absolutely blows me away that they can remove a kidney on an 85-year-old man and send him home the next day expecting him to get around the house ok. They tried to send my Pop's home the next day after his knee replacement. They didn't do a nerve block for some strange reason, so he was in extreem pain. Thank God they didn't send him home because that night he had a stomach bleed that put him into ICU. The DR called us at 11:30 at night and said that we needed to come to the hospital right away. Pop's lost 8.5 units of blood and the DR didn't think he would make it through the night. After his blood transfusions that night, he looked and sounded much better. I swear I thought that we were gonna lose him over a knee surgery. He spent a month + in an assisted living/ F'n nursing home. Those places are brutal, I told my wife if she ever sent me to one that I'd haunt her until the day she dies. LOL!!!They sent my 87 YO FIL home the same day for a knee replacement. Thanks Jeff, tonight I got to relax with a little help of Patron silver. Not to put too fine a point on this but it costs less to send you home and have you take care of yourself. Not to derail this thread anymore but we lost my MIL to dementia 7 years ago and that was a brutal few years. Hope things go well for you with your dad and the competition. They tried to send my Pop's home the next day after his knee replacement. Dad has dementia, each time he goes into the hospital, it gets worse.
I can hardly understand him speak right now, and that is kicking my ass.
As he's always been with me on cook off days, tomorrow will be the first time he hasn't been to one, and I'm really F'n bummed about it. Thank God my wife will be there with me, she's always had to work weekends and has never seen me in action... even on my wins.
Pop's left me a really cool message on my phone this evening, I'm glad I missed his call, because I have his recorded message for good now, I'll never get rid of it. It tear'd me up big time!!!
I'll try to remember to take some pictures at the contest tomorrow, if I'm doing good, there will be pic's, if I'm behind or struggling, there won't be any. I hope to take lots of photos. LOL!!!
I hope your Dad is doing better, it sure does suck watching them get old, but we are fortunately blessed to still have them with us. Give the old dude a big hug and let him know how you feel about him while you still can.
