I had a Little Chief with a burned out element. We used to take it on camping trips and burn a few briquettes and wood chips.
Smoke some trout for a bit, and finish in a skillet or wrapped in foil and baked under the campfire. Good times !

I converted mine to charcoal then figured I needed to go bigger.
